Il 19 febbraio 2017 il TheGuardian riporta le dichiarazioni del Presidente degli Stati Uniti Donald Trump in merito ad un falso attentato terroristico in Svezia che sarebbe avvenuto pochi giorni fa:
‘Sweden, who would believe this?’: Trump cites non-existent terror attack
Donald Trump appeared to invent a terrorist attack in Sweden during a campaign-style rally in Florida on Saturday, inviting questions that he may have confused the Scandinavian country with a city in Pakistan.
With thousands of supporters gathered in an aircraft hangar in Melbourne, Florida, Trump used his speech to talk about migration in Europe and linked it to terror attacks in Brussels, Nice and Paris. He then added Sweden to the list, incorrectly stating that an attack had happened there on Friday.
Trump told supporters: “We’ve got to keep our country safe. You look at what’s happening in Germany, you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden.”

There were questions about whether Trump had confused Sweden with Sehwan in Pakistan, where more than 85 people were killed in a suicide bombing at the Sufi shrine on Thursday.
Il TheGuardian sospetta che il Presidente americano si sia confuso con un altro attentato, avvenuto realmente a Sehwan in Pakistan (se ci penso Trump poteva confondere i nomi “Sehwan” e “Sweden”, forse distratto).
Un attentato inesistente che ha scatenato l’ironia della Rete con hashtag come #JeSuisIKEA, oltre ad un diretto Carl Bildt (ex Premier svedese) che con un tweet domanda cosa si sia “fumato” il Presidente americano:
Sweden? Terror attack? What has he been smoking? Questions abound.
Trump risponde a tutte le “dicerie” sul suo conto difendendosi in questo tweet del 19 febbraio 2017:
My statement as to what’s happening in Sweden was in reference to a story that was broadcast on @FoxNews concerning immigrants & Sweden.
Insomma, la colpa è aver visto un report di Fox News che parlava di immigrazione in Svezia, ma niente a che fare con un attentato! Per quale motivo aggiungere la Svezia all’elenco dei luoghi colpiti da attentati terroristici?
La questione risulta alquanto comica, siccome questa teoria venne diffusa dal Nydailynews.com il giorno stesso in cui rilasciò tale dichiarazione (il 18 febbraio 2017):

Passando ad altro, noto che anche la sua consigliera, Kellyanne Conway, ha diffuso una fake news per incolpare i rifugiati dell’inesistente massacro del Bowling Green. Non c’è stato alcun massacro al Bowling Green, Kentucky, siccome i due uomini furono arrestati ben prima che tentassero l’impresa.

Nonostante lei si “scusi” sostenendo di aver fatto un errore, non è la prima volta che sostenne l’esistenza dell’attentato:

Non so se ridere o piangere (tendo più alla seconda opzione).
